PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP Sunday, July 4th 2010, 9am - 6pm Hi Rainbow People! This is a special workshop just for you! The workshop comes with the promise of being one of the most fun and productive days of learning in your life. It will include the following FUNdamental components: Each participant will be required to prepare five class plans - one for each age group (under 3, 3-6, 7-9, 10-12, teenagers). Please send me the class plans beforehand. We will then use the class plans to discuss class structure and sequencing, and advanced or more effective ways to teach yoga to each of the age groups. We will delve deeper into child psychology and new techniques for you to positively guide the kids through a yoga experience. Learn techniques to increase self-confidence and awareness designed to empower the inner yogi or yogini within. We will learn cool new games that I have just developed and fresh fun ways to do yoga – things we have never done before… ever! There will be a special section about how to teach yoga in a large or small, school classroom setting (where you cannot move the tables and chairs) which includes breathing, chair poses and relaxation techniques. Also…all participants of this totally awesome, all about you and your mission workshop, are invited to be a part of the four day, Super-Yogis-FUNtastic School Holiday Workshops for kids that I will be giving at Yoga To Go on July 5th – 8th, 2010. Yippee! Those of you who will come to this day camp will get the opportunity to teach sections of this day camp with my guidance to receive personal feedback and advice. But more than anything, it will be a place for us to rekindle and be inspired again, and ask questions to receive specific answers and support. I hope to see you there! He was a monk in the Sivananda Yoga Centers in Israel and the Bahamas for ten years, from 1994-2004, where he completed his Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Teacher Training. While living in the Bahamas, Gopala was the general manager of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat on Paradise Island, for four years. From 2004 to 2007, Gopala created, managed and taught yoga and alternative spa programs in Los Cabos, Mexico and New York City. He also continued studying yoga for kids at Karma Kids in New York and Itsy Bitsy Yoga in Massachusetts, and Circus Yoga with Erin and Kevin O’Keefe. Gopala also studied healing with Tibetan bowls with Avraham Benor and is a Reiki master. In 2008, after studying with Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, Gopala was ordained as an Interfaith minister. In 2007, Gopala and Katya founded Yoga LeShalom: A Studio for the Whole Family (Yoga LeShalom is Hebrew for “Yoga for Peace”) in Tel Aviv, Gopala’s hometown. It was at Yoga LeShalom that Gopala began focusing on training yoga teachers for kids, and has to date trained hundreds of teachers internationally. In late 2008, Gopala and Katya moved back to the United States, and Rainbow Kids Yoga was born! Gopala has taught yoga for kids in such diverse settings as public and private schools, kindergartens, and preschools, summer camps, orphanages, yoga studios, juvenile detention centers, hotels, spas, birthday parties, and private classes. Forward bends bring tone & length to the quads, hamstrings and spine, but more importantly, we practice them to bring calm and ease to the brain and mind. They remove stress, tension and soothe the nervous system, so aiding healthy sleep patterns. They also massage the internal organs, helping digestion.
